Casa di Terry is not simply a structure like many others where you can find a room in the city center of Ravenna. Casa di Terry is the perfectly preserved spirit of a story that began many years ago, when in 1975, dad Angelo and mom Teresa, he from Velletri, she from Ravenna, but both married in Rome in 1954, after having lived in Rome until 1963, then moved to a small house transformed over the years into a splendid villa in Castel Gandolfo, on the Roman hills, decided to move with their family - my brother and I - to the hometown of mom: Ravenna.
The choice fell on an already beautiful home in the historic center, structured on two buildings with a splendid internal garden, which was completely renovated and became the home of the Bartoli family from June 27, 1975.
When unfortunately in October 2022 my mother, who was widowed, joined my father in heaven, my partner Roberto and I decided to dedicate part of the main building, the one accessed from via Giovanni Pascoli 10, to a Bed & Breakfast that will start its activity on September 1, 2024 and that will bear the name of my mother: Teresa, an elegant, dynamic, absolutely innovative and always attentive to new things lady, during her very short hospital stay due to the sudden illness that struck her in hospital, was nicknamed Terry by a nurse (also because she didn't like her own name while she liked it).
Precisely for this reason, Casa di Terry is preserved with all the furnishings, in style, obviously vintage today but perfectly preserved, that my mother had chosen since 1975.
Casa di Terry, managed by Roberto, offers three types of stay, with a minimum stay of two nights, flexible and at the same time exclusive: you can choose between a double room in style with garden view and exclusive bathroom; or you can have two double bedrooms in style overlooking the main street, precisely via Giovanni Pascoli, with a shared bathroom; or you can have all three double bedrooms in style, two overlooking the main street, one overlooking the garden, with a single shared bathroom. Flexibility involves exclusivity because whichever of the three solutions is booked will automatically cancel the other two. In essence, therefore, it will be like living in a single home with the exclusivity of staying. Obviously, alongside the vintage style and the furnishings and finishes in style, there are the most innovative features, from the flat-screen TV, the Wi-Fi connection, the satellite channels, to the very comfortable latest-generation mattresses, from the most innovative solutions for bed linen, alongside high-value furniture and lamps. Obviously all the systems were built before the business opened and therefore comply with the safety standards currently in force. And what about breakfast, which will be prepared daily for the guests present with excellent quality products, some of which are linked to local tradition; just as there will be very useful surprises for tourists and visitors to the city, with the free guide-story book, where it will be possible to have all the information to discover the 25 pearls of a three-time imperial city, Ravenna, but also very pleasant and colorful personalized gadgets. Ravenna is an extraordinary city: first of all because it is a city that was imperial capital three times, and imperial capital of three different empires.
The first time it was imperial capital with the Western Roman Empire, the second time with Theodoric it was capital of the Ostrogoth Empire, the third time it was imperial capital with the Byzantine Empire.
The other characteristic that makes Ravenna absolutely unique is the fact that the historic center winds along a complex system of streets, connections, routes, which mean that Ravenna is fully considered the city where you always get lost by car; vice versa, walking through it tells of an intriguing and absolutely irresistible world, sinuous and full of monumental, environmental, historical, and why not even commercial attractions: all in the space of a few hundred meters ... exactly like in Calvino's city called Zenobia, in this place with concentric circles it is possible to get lost, to discover how close you were to what new you have discovered.
Ravenna has eight UNESCO sites and is surrounded by an absolutely varied natural environment: in the space of about ten kilometers the entire very long and diverse coastline, even closer the natural park of the Po Delta.
Not to be underestimated is the sea about ten kilometers away with splendid beaches, enjoyable in all seasons and reachable by bike, bus and obviously by car.
Then moving away a few dozen kilometers, the hill with the extraordinary villages that unfold in all directions and a little further away you can already glimpse the Apennines with interesting peaks: needless to say that the choice of environments becomes almost infinite.
And for those who are absolutely not interested in monuments and natural contexts, there is an amusement park, the very famous Mirabilandia.
